You seem to think that Windows Home Server can be controlled in some fashion to force one copy of your files to exist on the internal drives, and a second copy on the external array.

In any production IT environment, regular backups are run for all data, because RAID arrays will fail and take their data with them.

RAID technology will not fully protect your data.

(It will normally work, but Microsoft doesn't intend RAID to be part of a WHS solution, and isn't interested in bugs that may result.)Ī couple of problems (off the top of my head) with your particular scenario: You're not going to get a lot of advice as to the best RAID box to buy in this forum, I'm afraid, because Windows Home Server in concert with RAID is an unsupported scenario.
